Open Call to Artists at Carnwath

Open call to artists at Carnwath Road

Your opportunity to support the community through art

You are invited to take part in the hoarding art refresh at our Carnwath Road Riverside site.

Together, the Carnwath Road Residents Group (CRRG) and the Society of Fulham Artists & Potters, (SoFAP) are delighted to announce an open call for local artists to contribute to the creation of an Art Exhibition for the Carnwath Road Riverside site.

Local residents have chosen the theme as Wandsworth Bridge to Putney Bridge: The Past, Present and Future (River, Wildlife, Ecology and the Local Area). Artists are encouraged to explore this theme but with their own interpretation, whether in 2D or 3D.

The exhibition will replace the current artwork, located on the western side of the site facing Carnwath Road (see image above).

Here are a few suggestions of where you're able to paint/draw/sketch/etc:

  • River Wandle

  • Broomhouse Dock

  • Putney Embankment

  • St Mary's Church

  • Bishop's Park

  • Fulham Park

Whilst walking around, between Wandsworth and Putney, why not take a few photos of something that inspires you? You can then turn the photo into your masterpiece, with a brush, pencil, pen or even on the computer!

Here are a few suggestions of what can be painted/drawn/sketched/etc:

  • Street markets

  • River docks

  • Fun fairs

  • Boats

  • Cyclists

  • Runners

Design and Copyright Artists Society (DACS)

For artists who are worried about copyright, their work being shown on the hoardings, being used in publications by Tideway or other passing trade, joining the Design and Copyright Artists Society is the way to go.

Copyright is the property of the artist until the artist decides to sell or sign away that right.  Being a member of DACS will protect your rights. They also run a payback scheme each year, which give individual artists a share of royalties administered by the government, for works that do get into the public domain.

For further information please go to DACS website.
