Located next to the Hurlingham Club in Fulham, Carnwath Road Riverside is one of our three ‘main drive sites’ – sites from which our tunnel boring machines (TBMs) begin building the main tunnel. Rachel, one of our six TBMs (and one of four building the main tunnel), will tunnel 7km west to Acton Storm Tanks, with all the excavated spoil being removed by barge. This site will also ‘receive’ Millicent, the TBM building the 5km section from Battersea, as well as Charlotte, which is building the smaller Frogmore Connection tunnel between Wandsworth and Fulham.

Reconnecting London with the River Thames

London relies on a 150-year-old sewer system built for a population less than half its current size. As a result, millions of tonnes of raw sewage spills, untreated, into the River Thames each year.

That’s where we come in.

We’re building a 25km Super Sewer under the Thames to intercept those nasty spills and clean up our river for the good of the city, its wildlife and you.
