From April 2024 the team is undertaking river wall piling works. Piling rigs are being used to enable us to build the final section of new river wall, connecting it to the two previously constructed sections. The rigs will auger (drill) into the ground and create a vertical hole which will then be filled with reinforcing steel and concrete, to create a concrete pile. This process will be repeated while we construct all the remaining new river wall piles. To increase efficiency two piling rigs are being used. We are returning the future river wall closer to its original position, from before we began work at Chambers Wharf. We expect to finish this activity by July 2024.
We are also constructing the air treatment structure and electrical and control kiosk on the eastern side of the site. The control kiosk is the building which houses the equipment that allows the sewer system to operate smoothly.

Looking ahead, the team needs to remove the cofferdam later this year. The cofferdam is the temporary area of land that was built out into the river so that we could build the structures below ground. More information on this upcoming work and the fast-track Independent Compensation Panel process that is in place is available - here.
