Carnwath Road Riverside (Hammersmith and Fulham)

This site is made up of two parts; a main site (which includes Whiffin Wharf, Hurlingham Wharf, Carnwath Road Industrial Estate and an area of the River Thames foreshore) and a small highways work site.

While there is no combined sewer overflow being intercepted at this site, it will be used to drive the main tunnel to Acton Storm Tanks and receive the main tunnel from Kirtling Street. It would also receive the Frogmore connection tunnel driven from Dormay Street.

Carnwath Road Riverside - Latest news

From Monday 14 May we will be closing part of the footpath, adjacent to our Carnwath Road Riverside site, for up to five days. This will be the northern footpath between the two zebra crossings.

The reason for the closure is to complete the installation of the hoarding artwork produced by Sulivan Primary School.

If you would like further information on this project, including updates by email, please call our 24-hour helpdesk on 08000 30 80 80 or contact us at [email protected].

What are our working hours?

Standard working hours are 8am to 6pm Monday-Friday and 8am-12pm Saturday.  Also, there is an 1 hour mobilisation period before and after the Standard Working Hours, plus maintenance periods on Saturday 1-5pm and Sundays 10am-4pm.

How will we use the river?

We have committed to using river transport as much as possible to reduce the number of heavy goods vehicles on the roads.

For Carnwath Road Riverside we anticipate an average of two barges overall per day, and potentially a peak of four barges per day, subject to the tides, with each barge taking approximately 45 heavy goods vehicles off the road.

An anticipated daily average of 19 heavy goods vehicles will access the site. This will rise to approximately 45 per day for about 17 months during the main tunnel construction.

It is proposed that approximately two-thirds of materials will be moved by river and approximately one-third will be moved by road.
